Tattoo Care: Before and After Your Session

✨ Your tattoo is a work of art — and it begins with care.

Whether you’re getting a fine line piece, a micro realism portrait, or a pet tattoo, preparation and aftercare are essential to ensure a beautiful and lasting result.
Below you’ll find professional guidelines to help your skin heal safely and beautifully.

Before Your Tattoo Session

Here are some guidelines that will make the pigmentation process easier, less painful and faster.

👉🏻 Drink plenty of water in the 7 days before your tattoo to keep yourself and your skin hydrated.

👉🏻 Moisturize your skin well in the 7 days before your tattoo, using a moisturizer or cream of your choice.

👉🏻 If possible, exfoliate the area 1 day before the tattoo: mix 1 tablespoon of honey with 1/4 tablespoon of white or brown sugar. Apply the mixture to the area, making circular movements for 5 minutes. Then rinse with running water.

👉🏻 If the area to be tattooed has hair, shave or wax it before exfoliating, depending on your preference. If you don’t have many hairs, Naia will do the shaving at the time of the tattoo. Be careful not to hurt the tattoo area during the waxing process.

👉🏻 Avoid waxing in the 7 days before the tattoo.

👉🏻 Avoid sunburn or excessive sun exposure in the 15 days before the tattoo.

👉🏻 Dress in comfortable, easily accessible clothes for the tattoo session. Don’t worry, ink splashes rarely occur, but be aware that they can.

👉🏻 If possible, opt for neutral clothing: black, white, beige or gray. This helps us standardize the colors when taking photos.

👉🏻 Try to set aside a quiet day with no commitments and plenty of time. The tranquillity of the time available reflects positively on the result of the work.

👉🏻 Avoid consuming alcohol, aspirin, ibuprofen or other anticoagulants for at least 24 hours before the session.

👉🏻 Avoid bathing in very hot water 7 days before the tattoo.

👉🏻 Avoid taking antibiotics or anti-inflammatory drugs 3 days before the tattoo.

👉🏻 Rest well the night before: Make sure you get a good night’s sleep before the day of the tattoo.

⚠️ Report any health conditions or allergies: Inform us of any pre-existing health conditions, allergies or medication you are taking.

⚠️ Tattoos on the ear, neck, hands, fingers, joints and lower limbs are places that suffer from the healing process, so extra attention is needed beforehand. If retouching is necessary, the cost of the material will be charged.

⚠️ If you are under 19, it is essential that your parents are present to sign the authorization on the day of the tattoo.

🩹 Aftercare: How to Heal Your Tattoo

Your tattoo is 50% done, now you need to do the other 50%.

Ink is a foreign body to your body and it will try to expel as much ink as it can, so every care is important for the healing process.

What to Do:

👉🏻 Only clean your tattoo with soap and water.

👉🏻 Moisturize the tattoo 5 to 6 times a day for 30 days, the more you moisturize, the better it will look. Apply a small amount of cream to the tattooed skin with gentle movements.

👉🏻 The more you moisturize the peel, the more the skin will absorb the pigment.

👉🏻 When you run out of the cream in the kit, you can buy another ointment specifically for tattoos. Body moisturizers are not recommended. Avoid products that contain petroleum and lanolin in their formula.

👉🏻 Drink at least 2 liters of water a day.

What to Avoid:

👉🏻 Avoid very hot baths for the first seven days, as they dilate the skin pores and make the healing process more difficult.

👉🏻 Don’t scratch or peel off the tattoos, as they protect the pigment in the skin and prevent contamination by microorganisms.

👉🏻 Avoid touching the tattoo with dirty hands, whether during sanitizing or moisturizing.

👉🏻 If you have pets, take special care to avoid direct or indirect contact with the tattoo.

👉🏻 Avoid intense physical exercise or sudden movements in the area of the tattoo for at least 7 days to avoid rupture of blood vessels, stretch marks or deformation of the design.

👉🏻 Plastic wrap: use as little as possible, as plastic for too long breaks down the cells that are healing.

👉🏻 For the first week, dry the tattoo area only with a paper towel, avoiding the use of towels.

👉🏻 Avoid the sun, sand, swimming pools and saunas for 30 days. If you need to be in the sun, cover the tattoo area.

👉🏻 Avoid using sunscreen for the first 15 days, as it can alter the color of the tattoo.

👉🏻 Avoid using antibiotics or anti-inflammatory drugs.

👉🏻 Avoid very fatty foods, pork and fish, and alcoholic drinks for a week, as they influence the body’s inflammatory system.

👉🏻 Avoid tight clothing: Opt for loose clothing that doesn’t cause friction or excessive pressure on the tattoo.

Those are the recommendations! I’m happy to help if you have any questions!
